02 / OUR BEGINNINGS

Built on belief.
Bound by cricket.

Canterbury's roots reach back to the Canadian Forces Ottawa Cricket Club and Levenoques Cricket Club — two sides that came together to keep the game growing.

That shared spirit shaped Canterbury in 1983, and it still defines our approach: respect for the game, commitment to one another and pride in representing Ottawa.

CANTERBURY · OTTAWA CRICKET

A cricket club rooted in Ottawa

Canterbury Cricket Club connects the history of local cricket with the people and matches that keep the game moving today.

If you are searching for cricket in Ottawa, you may be looking for a competitive team, a way to get back into the sport, or simply a community that understands the game. Canterbury Cricket Club is part of that local story. The club took its modern form in 1983 and has continued to bring players and supporters together around cricket in the Ottawa area. This website introduces our team, honours, season information and the people who contribute to the club. We aim to make the first step easier for anyone who wants to understand how a community cricket club works.

Our current website reflects several sides of Canterbury. The squad section introduces club members and provides a sense of the people you may meet. The season section gives a structured view of divisions and recorded performances. The history page brings together the story of the club's formation, memorable runs and championship milestones. Photographs and awards celebrate moments away from the scorecard too. These sections are connected because cricket is not only about a result on one weekend: it is also about preparation, continuity and belonging to a team over time.

For people based in Ottawa or travelling from Kanata, Nepean, Orléans or Barrhaven, practical details matter. Canterbury currently identifies Lynda Lane Park and the Jim Siew Cricket Pitch at 580 Smyth Road as a playing ground. Match allocations and availability can still change by season, so check the exact date, pitch and training arrangements with the club before travelling. Tell us whether you are a new player, returning to cricket after a break, or interested in supporting local matches. We can help you understand the next appropriate step or direct you to the relevant information. Canterbury's history is important, but our aim is equally to make it easy to start a conversation about cricket today.
